Sams addressed a meeting of MEPs in Brussels
on April 29. He told MEPs how biochar could play a major
role in combating climate change. The meeting was chaired
by Swedish MEP, Anders Wijkman, himself a firm supporter
of biochar. Swedish scientist Folke Gunther explained
about the dangers of the climate reaching a tipping point
beyond which it could not recover. Sergio Zelaya from
the UNCCD Secretariat explained why UNCCD supported biochar
to combat desertification. Deepak Rhugani from Biofuels
